1968 Camaro Coupe

About the Camaro coupe.

We use parts by Chassis Works.

We have a thing for F-Bodys at Ultimate, and a sweet spot for saving classic muscle from the scrap yard, That brings us to the Ultimate Camaro coupe. With the great response from the Ultimate camaro convertible, we picked up this car, a sad rusted carcas ready to meet its demise. Follow along as we bring it back to life.

Restoration steps.

  1. Basically starting from scratch… the Camaro has all new sheet metal, but that is just the start of this work in progress. Starting from its new roof the Camaro has fully shaved Drip rails and new quarters. The firewall has been fully smoothed and underneath is where things get interesting.  Starting With Detroit Speed ,  Mini Tub kit, the rear wheel tubs have been cut out and widened to accommodate a large Dodge Viper sized 335 rear tire. Holding on to those tires is a set of 13″ brakes connected to a  Full Chris Alston’s Chassisworks Fab 9″ rear end  G-Bar Rear suspension, with Varishocks, splined rear sway bar, and Billet lower control arms.
  2. Up-front. The car has a Full Chassisworks sub-frame, Double adjustable Varishocks, Huge roll bar, and 13in brakes.
  3. Not your average finish. Not happy with the average finish, we completely smoothed the rear end housing, and the entire undercarrage and floor has been boxed, smoothed, primed and is awaiting painting and buffing (Yes we will be painting and buffing the ENTIRE underside of the car!)
  4. Engine. The power plant is still in the planning stages, But we will be going with a fully built, big cubic inch (427+) LS Series engine (out of 2010 Camaro/Corvette) And 6 speed transmission.  Since the ultimate coupe has to “Go” as well as it “shows” it will also be getting a supercharger to produce 800+ horsepower.
  5. Interior. The interior is still in the planning stages but i assure you it will keep up with the rest of the build.
